NATURE OF WORK

The 21st Century Program Site Coordinator works part time for 11 months of the year at the Ocracoke School Campus. Hours of employment are a maximum of 25 hours per week, and times of day are dependent upon program demands.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • oversees the day-to-day operations of the 21st CCLC Ocracoke School site afterschool and summer programs in compliance with all federal grant guidelines
  • manages the staff schedule, ensuring that the staff to student ratio is sufficient for safe and effective program operations
  • designs academic programming and supports tutors with their lesson plans for math, literacy, arts, social-emotional learning, physical education and STEM
  • works in concert with the Program Director to oversee scheduling of program activities for students
  • Ensures that attendance is recorded each day for the K through 12th grade afterschool program and the K through 5th grade summer program at Ocracoke School
  • Communicates daily with staff, students, teachers and school administration
  • Helps tutors create safe, healthy learning environments and manages student behavior
  • works with family, school, and community partnerships to ensure on-going program support from all
  • facilitates strengthening of staff by coordinating professional development, as needed
  • attends statewide NCDPI after school program meetings with the Hyde 21st CCLC Program Director
  • recruits local talent to serve as 21st Century staff or volunteers
  • maintains federally mandated 21st CCLC program data collection at Ocracoke School for the annual program evaluation


MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERINCE

 

Master’s degree preferred but will accept bachelor’s degree commensurate with education and experience; strong interpersonal skills, knowledge of the community; and management experience.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Requires the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under stress and when confronted with emergency situations.
