Maintenance Worker
POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Operations Director, the Maintenance Worker is responsible for maintaining facilities in a safe operating condition; performing a wide variety of skilled maintenance activities (e.g. carpentry, plumbing, electrical, ventilating systems, alarms, boilers, etc.); addressing immediate operational and/or safety concerns; assisting skilled trades as assigned; ensuring adequate materials are available to complete assignments in a timely manner.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with painting, fabrication, carpentry, plumbing, facilities and grounds as needed
- Ability to work alone or with other associates to complete assigned tasks
- Ability to follow oral or written instructions
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and communications with maintenance employees, school staff, parents and others
- Must be adaptable to performing under stress and when confronted with emergency situations
- Work under direction of supervisor for any maintenance department work orders assigned regardless of nature
- Other duties as assigned by the Director or designee.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to occasionally lift and/or carry up to 80 pounds.
- Must be able to frequently lift and/or carry up to 10 pounds.
- Must be able to occasionally push or pull up to 80 pounds.
- Must be able to frequently push or pull up to 10 pounds.
- Must be able to move machinery safely.
- Must be able to frequently perform the following: work on ladders, handling, reaching.
- Must be able to occasionally perform the following: climbing, crawling, kneeling, crouching, overhead lifting, stooping, fine manipulation, bending, keying, and balancing.
EMPLOYMENT TERM
- 12 months
- Full-time with benefits
SALARY: Pay Grade NC-05 on the North Carolina State Salary Schedule (www.ncpublicschools.org)
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Applicants must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Specialized training and/or experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of facility related systems including but not limited to electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, painting or other systems and equipment is preferred.
- Applicants must possess a valid North Carolina Driver’s License.
